THe History of Toyota Tsusho America

Toyoda New York launches to export American tool products to Japan and other Asian countries.

Toyoda New York becomes Toyoda America to reflect its growing reach. Headquarters is moved to the World Trade Center.

Following the opening of New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (“NUMMI”) – a joint venture between Toyota and General Motors, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (“TMMK”), Toyoda America opens offices in San Francisco and Lexington, Kentucky.

Toyoda America becomes Toyota Tsusho America Inc. (TAI) and establishes its steel service center in Georgetown, Kentucky, to provide steel materials for Toyota Group companies.

Following the lead of Toyota Group companies in the U.S., TAI expands its U.S. office network and makes full-scale investments in its independently functioning subsidiaries, including Missouri Smelting Technology (“MOST”), a secondary aluminum smelting operation, and Green Metals, Inc., a metals scrap processing and recycling business.

TAI merges with Kasho USA.

TAI announces business and capital collaboration with the Tomen Group.

Opens new Dallas office along with relocation of Toyota’s North American Headquarters.
